CITY ORDINANCE NO. _____ CREATING A CITY OR MUNICIPAL COORDINATING COMMITTEE FOR GUIDANCE COUNSELING IN LOCAL SCHOOLS WHEREAS, the Department of Education (DepEd) has reported a significant shortage of guidance counselors, with an estimated need of 47,000 guidance counselors compared to the current allocation of approximately 4,460 Plantilla positions; WHEREAS, guidance counselors provide essential services, including mental health support, career counseling, and intervention in cases of bullying and discrimination; WHEREAS, local government units (LGUs) have a responsibility to promote the well-being of students and ensure access to quality education and mental health services; WHEREAS, it is necessary to establish a City or Municipal Coordinating Committee for Guidance Counseling to address the shortage by mobilizing resources, engaging volunteers, and ensuring proper coordination among relevant stakeholders; NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Sangguniang Panlungsod/Bayan of ...
